Cambridge Judge Business School MBA Essay Tips for 2021-2022

Being the very in-demand MBA program, Cambridge demands some intellectual qualities in its candidates. They are looking for candidates who have succeeded in previous academic performance, are extremely motivated and enthusiastic, work well under pressure, already have demonstrated clear career advancement, have international work experience, have a global perspective, and are self – assured, resilient, innovative, and unique. Every year, Cambridge tries to admit a diverse group of students. It  ensures that all students are capable of handling the intellectual demands of a University of Cambridge degree. Their previous experience has to be of a quality that allows them to fully participate in the MBA program. Thus, getting into Cambridge MBA can be challenging and you need to make an impressive impact on the admission panel through your application essays. Read on to know how to write Cambridge’s MBA essays.

Here are the main essay questions on the Cambridge MBA application:

Please provide details of your post-MBA career plans. The statement should not exceed 500 words and must address the following:

  • What are your short and long term career objectives? How will the Cambridge MBA equip you to achieve these?
  • Looking at your short-term career goal, describe the research you have done to understand how this industry/role/location recruits MBA talent and what they are looking for in a candidate?
  • How do you meet the requirements of your short-term career goal? What preparation are you doing now?

You must explain why you are seeking an MBA from Cambridge in this personal statement essay. You must outline your professional ambitions in this essay and briefly explain why they are realistic for you in the context of your career progression to date. Keep in mind that this question is simply both for short and long-term goals, so make sure you answer your short term goals considering your long-term route in mind. Your short-term goal profession should ideally transition to your long-term goal career, and an MBA degree is required for both courses. Then you must consider how you will use and engage with Cambridge‘s resources to seek and achieve your objectives. Look for meaningful connections between your interests and goals and the things you plan to engage in, not just a few program options. Then, you need to demonstrate how you are preparing and keeping the momentum going.

Describe a difficult decision that you had to make. What did you learn from this and how have you changed as a result? (up to 200 words)

For this I would suggest (Challenge – Action – Results) framework. Start with the challenges that you were facing, afterwards describe your action-plan. Then, jot down what the results were!

At the time, difficult decisions appeared to be incredibly stressful. They can, however, contribute to personal development and self-awareness. Consider what you learned during the decision-making process as you tackle this question. The focus of this essay is on what you’ve learnt and how you’ve changed. First, explain the issue and failures in a few phrases. Then go over how you came to your decision. Then, as a consequence of your decisions, write about what you experienced. Finally, choose a personal or professional example to illustrate your point. Any topic will do as long as you can demonstrate your leadership or personal traits. You might possibly have extracurricular activities that you can talk about.

Describe a time where you worked with a team on a project. What did you learn from the experience and how might you approach it differently today? (up to 200 words)

Cambridge is looking for students that are creative, collaborative, and have excellent interpersonal skills. This essay should demonstrate to the admissions committee that you will operate as part of a group to achieve a common goal.  Take a few phrases to explain the issue, then concentrate on what you learnt, as you did in essay 2. You may also describe your management culture and how you interact when you work together. Don’t forget to highlight how you assist people in doing their absolute best and overcoming obstacles. Consider whether you have a specific position or skill within the same team for this Cambridge MBA application essay. If so, explain your strategy here, whether it’s to form a consensus.

If you could give one piece of advice to your 18-year-old self, what would it be? (up to 200 words)

This is perhaps the most open-ended of essays in this series. As a result, this essay can be the best place to tell a personal experience. This topic encourages contemplation, especially when you are encouraged to reflect on the time since you were 18.  Take a look at the routes you took and the ones you didn’t. If you’re honest with yourself, do you have any regrets? Do you wish you’d taken more chances earlier in life? On the other hand, you may wish that you would have persevered with a task that seemed tedious at the moment. Remember that you will only have 200 words to express the essay’s main point, so concentrate on concisely discussing the advice and the circumstances in which it was given.
